Making your own homemade milk is very easy and without all the preservatives and fillers they add at the stores! This recipe can be used for making almond, hazelnut, brazil nut, pecan, pistachio, or coconut milk.
Certain nuts should be soaked and rinsed-like almonds (for 8 hours) and pecans (4 hours). The other nuts can be rinsed before using. For the coconut milk, use fine or medium-shred unsweetened dried coconut.
Prep Time
4-8 hours of soaking nuts if using pecans or almonds
5-10 minutes preparing
Ingredients
-1 cup of nuts
-4 cups of filtered water
-(Optional) Sweetener of choice: dates, agave, maple syrup
-(Optional) 1/2 tsp of sea salt
1. Measure out 1 cup of your choice of nuts and soak overnight.
2. Drain and rinse nuts and put in blender.
3. Add 4 cups of filtered water and sweetener of your liking (I use agave, maple syrup, or a date). I add 1-2 tablespoons of sweetener.
4. You can add a little salt to help preserve it a little longer in the fridge. Blend well.
5. Strain the mixture with a nut milk bag or strainer. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
