Sprouting is an easy way to add a huge nutritional boost to your meals at a low-cost (if you make your own). They are simple to make and require very little time!
1) First get some good quality seeds (I like True Leaf Market). Alfalfa, fenugreek, and broccoli are my favorites.
2) Get some sprouting jar lids (not necessary, but will make sprouting way easier) and quart size mason glass jar(s). You can also cut up a cheesecloth to secure over the top of the jar with a rubber band or open tin lid (see pic below).
3) Then soak 2-4 tablespoons of seeds-depending on how many sprouts you want- in filtered water in a quart glass jar overnight. 4 tablespoons will fill up the entire jar with sprouts. I would do 2 tablespoons for broccoli sprouts since they have more of a tendency to mold and seem to need more space to aerate.
4)Drain the water (I like to use this water to water my plants).
5) Rinse 2-3 times a day.
6) Repeat rinsing every day until you get a full jar of sprouts.
Depending on the sprout and at what point you like to eat it, sprouts will be ready in 3-5 days!
